What Are The Club's Goals?
It is the club's primary goal to bring dog education awareness to our part of Ohio and northern Kentucky in as
many ways as we can manage. We are working diligently to do all proper requirements in order to obtain our
American Kennel Club licensing & become an official AKC-accredited club so that we will be able to hold AKC
licensed events. We want to be able to offer our area AKC All Breed Conformation as well as AKC Obedience,
Rally & Agility Trials for our geographic location.
New: We just obtained our official UKC liscensing to hold
official UKC performance events!
And, we also strive to offer educational demos, dog safety presentations, & affordable dog training classes that
will help people of our area be able to develop & maintain a stronger bond with their 4-legged best friend(s)
through education &
pawsitive experiences. We also strive to have dogs in our club actively working in our
community as registered therapy dogs.
*~ We equally welcome to pure & mixed breed dogs into our club. ~*

SOABDC Therapy Dogs do AKC Dog Safety Presentation at Camp Molly Lauman for Girls Scouts!
On Sat, April 21, 2012 from 9am-3pm SOABDC members  Bryan Sammons with his Boxer therapy dog Jetta, Kathi Jo Zornes with her mixed
breed registered therapy dog Beck, and SOABDC Therapy Dog Program Coordinator Stacey Sammons with her English Mastiff therapy dog
Little Bear did a
great job representing SOABDC and teaching little kids and their parents about Dog Safety.
The dog club made up and presented packets for each child that participated in the event. These packets were composed mostly of American
Kennel Club approved coloring books, activity books, book markers, and more. A 12-minute AKC approved DVD called
The Dog Listener was
viewed as part of the club's presentation as well as the AKC DVD
Best Friends. The girls also got to see little tricks these dogs can do.
Grace Peach, Program Coordinator with the Portsmouth Public Library and SOABDC member also assisted with this project, working with the
kids and making things flow smoothly throughout the day. She explained the Tail Waggin' Tutoring program and provided kids with a flier about
when SOABDC therapy dogs will be present in various branches of the library to offer Tail Waggin' Tutoring.
SOABDC continues to be proudly active in our community bringing dog education awareness to our children. For more information contact us at
